Colors of Metal Shears/Snips, Do they matter?

Metal snips or shears.  For a long time I was under the assumption that aviation snips come in different colors, so you can pick your preference.  But now I know that it is not true.

Yellow handle snips are used to cut straight line or larger curves.  Green handle snips are designed to make right (clockwise) or straight cuts.  Red handle snips are for straight and left (counter clockwise) cuts.

As much as it is fun to make the right cut with the right tool, do not forget to wear gloves while doing so.  Working with sheet metal can be hazardous if right precautions are not taken.

I wonder if there are any other tools that are color coated?

Drill or Driver

Drill or Driver, that is the question of the day.

Power drills have been the most popular power tool for a long time.  Now we are seeing so many new power tools making their way to the top.  All those new tools with their new and improved functions make our job super easy.  But on the other hand they can be very intimidating and confusing to a person who does not know where to start.

For a long time I tried to figure out the difference between drill and driver.  Finally, I have my answer.  I hope this blog will help you understand the two tools better.

Lets start with the appearance of the tools.  Drills have a clutch at the top, so if you are driving a screw you can adjust it to stop at a specific torque allowing you to avoid over drilling.  On the other hand drivers do not have clutch.

While using a power drill you need to keep up with the drill in the forward motion to move the screw.  Whereas impact driver uses rotational force as well as side force in order to push the screw in faster.

Drills are helpful when we are working with small screws or working on a soft material.  As for heavy duty driving, or anytime we are driving the bigger fastener, impact driver really pays off.

Hope this information was useful.  Comments or questions are encouraged.  If you would like to add something to this topic please feel free to share your information.
